THE PROBLEM
Fitness trainers, especially in this COVID-19 pandemic, have been struggling to manage the progress of the numerous clients they train, and lose track of their schedules. With the ban of gyms, many people have adopted at-home training with which trainers feel overwhelmed with the number of trainees and their metrics that they need to keep a track of.
THE SOLUTION
Traineasy is a mobile app to provide trainers to keep a track of their trainees, their upcoming and ongoing sessions so that they don't lose time planning and managing. The application also provides suggested training hours to match the user schedules.
Revised Problem Discovery
How might we help Melissa keep a track of her client trainings, progress, and schedule easily and effectively?
We prioritised our ideas
With the multiple ideas coming up during brainstorming, mapping out an Idea Prioritisation board helped us understand which problems we could realistically solve.
With the multiple ideas coming up during brainstorming, mapping out an Idea Prioritisation board helped us understand which problems we could realistically solve.
Mapped the Information Architecture
We then organized, structured, and labelled content in an effective and sustainable way to help our users find information and complete tasks effectively. This helped us define how the pieces fit together to create the larger picture, and how items relate to each other within the system.
Laid out the User Flow
We then mapped out the structure, hierarchy, organization, and relationships across the app and features of our designs, so that people who use the design can fluidly navigate through the design to accomplish their desired goals.
Wireframing + Lo-fi Usability Testing
With all that we gathered, we then designed quick low fidelity wireframes of the main pages and tested the wireframes with eight interviewees to understand which they preferred in terms of ease of search and discovery, extracting information, completing tasks, and visual appeal.
1.
The users would use the notes section to write down notes on the metrics of the client, so it should be grouped together
2.
Users need a way to see the rescheduled events on the calendar upfront so that they can get an idea of what their day looks like visually
3.
Users need a repository of notifications so that they can see important updates that they would have normally missed.
Client Progress at a Glance

Reflection
Don't become attached to ideas - listen to users.
As a fitness enthusiast, I used to spend a good chunk of my days at the gym and when the nation went under a lockdown, all public places including gyms were shut. Having had an amicable relationship with thee trainers at the gym, it was brought to my notice that the personal trainers were unable to transition into an online platform for training as nobody wanted to risk coming to the gym again. To address this, my first instinct was to create an online platform for gym trainers to connect with their clients
Initial Problem Discovery
Given the Covid-19 pandemic, personal gym trainers want to move to a digital platform where they can train their clients online.
As a fitness enthusiast, I used to spend a good chunk of my days at the gym and when the nation went under a lockdown, all public places including gyms were shut. Having had an amicable relationship with the trainers at the gym, it was brought to my notice that the personal trainers were finding it toigh to to transition into an online platform for training. To address this, my first instinct was to create an online platform for gym trainers to connect with their clients
..but was this really the problem?
To find out, we conducted User Interviews & created our persona, Melissa
Interviewees quipped that they didn't just want an online platform. This made us realize our assumptions were incorrect and I later discovered the more pressing frustrations trainers had. To create a reliable and realistic representation of our key audience segments for us to better understand their needs, goals, frustrations better.
